Product Uses: Mazetol 200 Tablet is a prescription medicine that is used to treat a condition characterized by episodes of depression and abnormally elevated behaviour (acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder), long-term pain affecting the trigeminal nerve in the face, and a disorder in which nerve cell Activity in the brain is disturbed, causing different types of seizures such as partial seizures, generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and mixed seizure patterns (epilepsy). This medicine works by altering the transmission of certain chemicals in the brain and producing certain changes in the ion channels such as sodium and calcium.

Mazetol is used to treat certain types of seizures (epilepsy). It is also used to relieve pain due to trigeminal neuralgia (tic douloureux) and in the treatment of bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness). Mazetol works in the brain and nervous system to control seizures, pain, and bipolar disorder. Mazetol is an anticonvulsant.

Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in product labeling, Mazetol is used in certain patients with the following medical conditions:
Alcohol withdrawal.
Bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), prevention.
Central partial diabetes insipidus (water diabetes).
Neurogenic pain (a type of continuing pain).
Psychotic disorders (severe mental illness).

Warnings: Do not take Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's if you are allergic to 'Carbamezapine' or any of its contents, have serious heart problems, blood illnesses, bone marrow problems, hypothyroidism, glaucoma, urinary retention, osteoporosis or taking anti-depressants called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO's) within the last 14 days or taking herbal preparations containing St. John's wort as an antidepressant. Inform the doctor if you have low sodium levels in the blood or take medicines that could lower the blood's sodium levels, or using hormonal contraceptives. Do not stop taking Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's without consulting your doctor to avoid worsening of seizures episodes. Do not take Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's if you are pregnant unless prescribed by the doctor as Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's might cause serious congenital disabilities. It is safe to take Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's while breastfeeding; however, consult your doctor immediately if you think that the baby is having side-effects like excessive sleepiness, skin reactions or yellowing of skin or eyes. Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's should not be given to people less than 18 years of age until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Mazetol 200 Tablet 10's as it could lead to increased dizziness and sleepiness. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience suicidal tendencies or mood swings.
Medicine Interaction: When two or more medicines are taken together, it can change how the medicines work and increase the risk of side-effects. In medical terms, this is called as a Drug Interaction. This page does not contain all the possible interactions of Mazetol 200 Tablet. Share a list of all medicines that you use with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any medicines without the approval of your doctor. Mazetol 200 Tablet may interact with Monoamine-oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) which are used as antidepressants to treat depression, panic disorders, and social phobia. The use of Mazetol 200 should be avoided in combination with monoamine-oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Before giving Mazetol 200, MAOIs should be discontinued for at least two weeks, or longer if the clinical situation allows. There may be an interaction of Mazetol 200 with Analgesics, which are used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation or swelling. Mazetol 200 may lower the blood level or even stop the Activity of analgesics. Analgesics may also raise Mazetol 200 blood levels. The dosage of Mazetol 200 should be adjusted as increased levels in the blood may result in side-effects such as drowsiness, double vision, dizziness and loss of body movements or the blood levels should be monitored. Mazetol 200 Tablet interacts with Androgens, which are used to regulate the development and maintenance of male characteristics. Androgens may raise Mazetol 200 blood levels. When androgen and Mazetol 200 are used together, the dosage of Mazetol 200 should be adjusted as increased levels in the blood may result in side-effects such as drowsiness, double vision, dizziness and loss of body movements or the blood levels should be monitored.
Side Effects: Signs of an allergic reaction to Mazetol: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: sudden mood or behavior changes, depression, anxiety, insomnia, or if you feel agitated, hostile, restless, irritable, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. Call your doctor at once if you have: the first sign of any skin rash, no matter how mild, slow, fast, or pounding heartbeats, feeling light-headed or short of breath, blood problems--sudden weakness or ill feeling, fever, chills, pale skin, sore throat, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, liver problems--Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tiredness, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), low levels of sodium in the body--headache, confusion, slurred speech, severe weakness, feeling unsteady, severe skin reaction--fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling. Common Mazetol side effects may include: dizziness, loss of coordination, problems with walking, Nausea, vomiting or drowsiness.
